Job Description
Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Department: Manufacturing
Reports To: Manufacturing Team Leader
SUMMARY
The Mechanical Assembler fabricates all or portions of the products sold by Thermal Corporation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Cutting and forming of raw material or purchased parts to be incorporated in assembled products; all conforming to specifications supplied by Engineering.
- Preparing sub-assemblies and assemblies prior to final forming of products.
- Final forming and finishing of products to meet Engineering specifications
- Precisely following the currently approved processes for the product and cell involved.
- Keeping assigned work areas clean and orderly.
- Recording data concerning process times and things that slow-down or stop production on correct forms.
- Thinking of ways to improve the manufacturing cell process in which she/he is involved.
- As part of the manufacturing process team, brain storm ways to solve specific problems and ways to improve any aspect of the production process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Degree or GED and 2-years mechanical or electrical experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents written in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic calculating and measuring ability is required including the ability to read length and metered scales, charts and graphs.
COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: Good written and verbal communication is required.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to work effectively with customers and employees.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Visio applications.
TECHNICAL /MECHANICAL SKILLS: Ability to learn the features, limitations and use of at least two of Thermal’s product lines and processes of which they are made. Ability to solve problems, to learn and apply Thermal’s quality system to ensure continual improvement and customer satisfaction.

- Ability to operate air shears, manual shears, measuring devices, use hacksaws, band saws, pipe cutters, wrenches, screwdrivers, nut runners, pliers, hand or machine crimping devices. Occasional use welding machines, presses, drill presses, compressors, grinders and air grinders. Ability to perform stooping, crouching, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
