Job Description

 

 

Job Title:  Product Engineer     

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Engineering Manager       

 

                                

 SUMMARY

 

The Product Engineer of Thermal Corporation is responsible for providing this service:

 

  • Technical Support to external Customers, Customer Service and Manufacturing.
  • The development of new products and options.
  • The development of equipment to enhance and improve manufacturing.
  • Provide cost analysis, particularly in support of pricing decisions.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Assist customers with technical problems or information needed with existing products.
  • Help match potential Thermal products or customer needs. Help determine if existing products or new feasible products will meet customer needs.
  • Analyze products returned from customers and make appropriate design changes or recommendations.
  • Work with Manufacturing to resolve problems associated with
    • Documentation
    • Manufactured Products
    • Material
    • Equipment
  • Design of new product lines for Thermal Corporation
  • Design of new options for existing Thermal products
  • Visit customers to advise them on the use of Thermal products and to analyze problems they have encountered using Thermal products.
  • Selection of new materials and vendors.
  • Provide cost analysis and improvements, particular analysis to establishment of pricing of Thermal products.

 

 

COMPETENCIES

 

  • Utilize the technologies of heat transfer applied in the design of products made at Thermal Corporation.
  • Able to design electrical circuits that include resistance, capacitance, inductance and three-phase power, as well as solid state or mechanical contactors.
  • Able to analyze complex technical issues.
  • Able to guide technicians and designers in furnishing error-free manufacturing drawings and specifications that provide all of the information required by manufacturing, purchasing and information technology personnel.
  • Possess knowledge of manufacturing processes sufficient to create (or guide) product designs that are readily manufacturable.
  • Understanding of plastics processing equipment.
  • Maintain familiarity with salient features of competitor’s products.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the requirements of ISO 9001 as applied to Engineering Department.

                                

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEA Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.        

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to understand and use mathematics at the level expected of a graduate Engineer from any accredited Engineering school.

 

COMMUNICATIONS SKILLSExcellent written and verbal communication is required.

 

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:  Ability to work effectively and professionally with customers, vendors and employees. Excellent decision making, organizational and problem solving skills are required.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficientint in typical business related software and abilities in various CAD programs.

TECHNICAL /MECHANICAL SKILLS:  Ability to learn the features, limitations and use of each of Thermal’s product lines. Ability to meet the required competencies defined above.
