Band Heater Circumference Measurement

When measuring the circumference of band heaters, the measurement should be made on the inside surface from Point A to Point B whenever possible.  Also be sure to inform your customer service person of the gap size (space between Point A and Point B).

If  the heater cannot be measured then the barrel circumference should be measured from Point A around to Point A again to determine barrel circumference or barrel can be measured from Point B to Point C to determine Barrel O.D.

Also be sure to inform your customer service person of the gap size that is required.

Locating Holes in your band heater by Part Feature and with Degrees or Clock Time

Hole Location

Band heater hole location

If hole Location cannot be determined in degrees, then measurements should be made on the inside surface of the heater. (A) from the edge of gap to edge of hole or (B) from the edge of gap to the centerline of hole.

Mica Band Heater Gap Sizes

Standard Gap Sizes:

The standard gap width on a two piece band heater is 3/16".

The standard gap width on a one piece mica band heater is 5/16".

For band heaters that are available for same or next day shipment the maximum gap width is 1" for a one or two piece heater.

Mica Band Heater Hole Locations

When a hole is on the centerline of the width of a band heater the maximum hole size can be determined by subtracting 3/4" from the heater width.

Mica Band Heater Hole Locations

When a hole is offset to one side of a mica band heater there must be a minimum of 3/8" clearance from edge of hole to edge of heater on one side of the hole

Degrees Clock Time
Degrees and Clock time locations for band heaters Degrees and Clock time locations for band heaters

Holes should be located in degrees or clock time if possible, this will allow for the correct placement of holes. Note: Every minute on the clock is 6°.
