Welcome to the portal to Thermal's thermocouple and RTD for the plastics industry pages. Please click on the links to the right for listings of the most common configurations of thermocouples and RTD's for use in most plastics processing applications. If you don't see what you need, please give us a call! Thermal's Plastics Industry Probes can be manufactured quickly as type J or K thermocouples and in RTDs. Standard RTD probe is 100 ohms with .00385 ohm/ohm/°C calibration. Other calibration curves available. RTDs are available in four, three or two-wire configurations.
Probe bodies and metal hose are stainless steel. Lead wire is stranded 20 gauge on all thermocouple configurations except 204, 205, 216, 217, 220, and 221, which have 24 gauge stranded wire. Probe tip is welded (not brazed). Tips of extruder probes (or melt bolt thermocouples) are rounded; tips of the universal probes and other probes are machined to fit the bottom of a drilled hole, unless specified otherwise All probes are grounded (thermocouple leads are electrically connected to sheath) unless you specify ungrounded.
To order, specify configuration number, thermocouple type or RTD type, probe length and lead length.
Probes are normally "grounded" construction, but may be furnished as "ungrounded".

Grounded Junctions are used for virtually all applications except where stray electrical signals may leak into the thermocouple conductors.
|
Ungrounded Junctions are used when the thermocouple conductors need to be electrically isolated from their environment. |
